Although a message on Group1001’s home page says “We make insurance better for everyone,” we know they make LIFE better for everyone! When Group1001 CEO Dan Towriss heard the Fields & Futures story in late 2016 at an event in Oklahoma City, he was surprised to hear gangs were actively recruiting at the elementary school level.
As a lifelong believer in youth sports as a proven method to reach at-risk youth for positive social change, Dan stepped in to help … and by help, we mean help in a BIG way! His gift was twofold. The first was a $1.5 million match gift to Fields & Futures to help accelerate field construction. That $1.5 million gift was quickly matched, giving Fields & Futures a $3 million cash infusion. Talk about a tipping point!
Dan’s second gift was directed towards building an advocacy platform to support the belief that sports can help improve communities and lives. To that end, Brand Talkers was contracted to help develop a content strategy and implementation model that would help solidify Group1001’s commitment to help vulnerable youth and communities across the country, and inspire others to do the same. Since Sept 2017, Power of Sports, as a 30-minute show has been airing monthly on Fox Sports Regional Networks, sharing stories of people and organizations working hard to make the world a better place for all. In 2014, when Fields & Futures needed help sharing their story, Lampstand stepped in and quickly became the organization’s chief storyteller. With their help and guidance, Fields & Futures has grown a collection of more than 50 stories that inspire donors to contribute and support this worthy cause.
